As you launch or continue your construction career, it is important that you master the latest in energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and sustainability. Green building is fast becoming an important sector of the construction industry as customers begin to want more green features in their buildings and in their contractors’ construction methods. They are interested in protecting the environment all the way through the construction process and even after, when the building is finished. That is why a BPI building envelope course makes sense.
Building Performance Institute, Inc. offers continuing education and certification courses to help you become an expert in the field of construction. For example, the BPI Building Envelope course teaches you how to solve problems related to the building shell, like moisture, ice dams, mildew, and drafts.
You’ll gain a more solid understanding of why the diagnostic process is important, the reasons why building shell problems, such as those previously mentioned, become a problem at all. You’ll learn, most importantly, how to resolve it.
The course is worth 7 CEU credits, and it covers insulation applications and techniques, thermal and pressure boundary evaluation, work scope prioritization, air sealing techniques, and ventilation systems and requirements. Additionally, you’ll learn about window and door inspections, health and safety training, test-in and test-out procedures, inspecting the building envelope, indoor air quality assessment, indoor moisture solutions, duct diagnostics and procedures, and blower door techniques and applications.
The course format for the BPI Building Envelope course is all online. There are clear objectives and a quiz after each module, and there is a final end-of-course practice exam. When you get 90 percent on the practice exam, you are prepared for the BPI certification exam. An added benefit is that you can call and email your teachers questions during the course.
You can start your online training right after you register. There are no deadlines you have to meet to turn in your work, but you must finish it within 90 days. You have access to the course 24/7, so you can learn whenever it is most convenient for you.
You then schedule a field exam to become BPI-certified. You will provide your blower door, manometer, and pressure exam for the field exam. If you need the tools, you can contact us, and we can provide them to you for a good price.
There are two course options. One is the multimedia course and materials, while the certification package includes the BPI Building Envelope Written and Field Exams. You can take the certification exam at a location that is convenient to you.
